Guatemala Report: Mission Accomplished!Al H., Laurie L., Mary H., Ellen C., Dale B., and Pastor April's family have completed their tour of the Guatemala Mission Project sites and their time of service in Chichicastenango. Work locations included a children's center (painting), a medical clinic (tiling walls, replacing ceiling, organizing pharmacy, interacting with patients), a neighborhood school (computer installation), and a Methodist church (electrical wiring and floor tiling).
Members of the group were able to visit the Widows Weaving Cooperative, the Ruth and Naomi Trade School, and an orphanage. During the three weeks of the project, the mission team attended Sunday afternoon worship at the Methodist Church in Chichicastenango.
On the second Sunday, Pastor April was given the opportunity to preach. The group was well housed and fed in local (small) hotels and restaurants.
The Mission Project wasn't all work and no play - the weekend visits to Antigua, Lake Atitlan, and the hot springs north of Quetzaltenango were most enjoyable. Some team members even added on a trip to the Mayan ruins in Tikal.
The team looks forward to sharing stories and details of their trip with interested members of the congregation. A date will be set as soon as all travelers have returned to the country and film has been developed!
