| May You Run and Not Grow Weary!Dear Friends, Isaiah 40:31 says, Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint. We are coming down the home stretch of Faith to Fly, and it's time to summon our strength! With God's help we can have an exciting and inspiring finish to our three-year capital stewardship program. This June will mark the end of our three-year giving period for Faith to Fly. We will celebrate all that has been accomplished with a festive banquet on June 3. We will give thanks for God's faithfulness to us, and God's grace working in us to increase our faith. In the next three months, the Faith to Fly leadership team wants to give every opportunity for those who have not yet been involved to become involved, and those who made an initial commitment to come as close as they can to fulfilling that commitment. Some people are already going beyond their commitment, and others may want to do the same! We began Faith to Fly with a substantial demonstration of financial support from all friends and members of the congregation. Our hope is to finish the same way! Thanks to all those who have given money to the Faith to Fly fund, our church now has a sparkling exterior. The new trim paint compliments the new stucco. The new roof protects our buildings from any leaks due to rain. The new sign is contemporary and inviting. The Ingraham Street landscaping is fresh, healthy, and attractive. We no longer worry about the safety of gas and electric lines, nor the suitability of our handicap access. We have even reduced our long term debt. We have accomplished far more than we ever set out to do. Meanwhile, we still hold fast to the goal of new landscaping and walkways in the courtyard, and an expanded parking lot for our growing church. All financial contributions in the last months of the Faith to Fly program will go toward helping us achieve those goals. In the next few months we will be learning a new song which expresses the blessing we have experienced in Faith to Fly and would like to continue to share with others. The lyrics (by Paul Murakami and Handt Hanson) are:
Thanks be to God, Faith to Fly has helped Pacific Beach United Methodist Church become a home to many. More are yet to come, and we have the satisfaction of knowing we helped to prepare a place for them. Grace and peace, Pastor April |
