Every church office needs an excellent Office Administrator, and PB UMC is lucky to have Aimée Kay serving in that capacity. It is Aimée who answers the telephone when someone phones the church office, and it is she who helps each caller and each office visitor receive the information being sought.

“I love it here,” smiled Aimée. “Each day is different. I never know who might walk through the office door and what request they might have.” Whether creating PowerPoint slides for the Sunday service, or chasing pigeons out of the sanctuary, the life of an Office Administrator is never dull!

Aimée is well prepared for such diverse tasks, for she has a wealth of experience behind her. She has actually worked in all of the following capacities: medical corpsman in the Navy (Labor & Delivery), personnel specialist in the Navy, secretary, librarian, security officer for Department of Defense contracts, and security official at Lindbergh Field. She has also managed her own cleaning business and has retrained horses that are no longer racing. She currently does volunteer work with the Humane Society and the Chula Vista Mounted Police. In fact, this spring she will be riding her horse in two Memorial services for officers killed in the line of duty.

Born in the Imperial Valley, Aimée moved up and down the west coast as a child. In fact, she attended three different elementary schools, three different junior highs, and three different high schools. Perhaps those early experiences have made her so completely at ease when meeting new people.

“I have one very elderly dog, one cat, one horse, and one husband,” said Aimée. “And my home church is Santee United Methodist.” In fact, it was in her church newsletter that she first saw the PB UMC ad seeking a part-time computer person.

That was the beginning. When long-time administrator Gayle Ver Steeg retired in 2004, Aimée took on the full Office Administrator job. She now works four days a week, with varying hours, but is always available in the mornings Monday through Thursday.
